Utilizing panel knowledge on 251,511 patent inventors matched with voter registration information containing partisan affiliation, we offer the primary large-scale look into the partisanship of American inventors. We doc that the modal inventor is Republican and that the partisan composition of inventors has modified in methods that aren’t reflective of partisan affiliation traits amongst the broader inhabitants. We then present that the partisan affiliation of inventors is related to technological invention associated to weapons and local weather change, two subject areas related to partisan divide.
