OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever, who left the synthetic intelligence startup final month, launched his new AI firm, which he is calling Protected Superintelligence, or SSI.

“I’m beginning a brand new firm,” Sutskever wrote on X on Wednesday. “We’ll pursue secure superintelligence in a straight shot, with one focus, one aim, and one product.”

Sutskever was OpenAI’s chief scientist and co-led the corporate’s Superalignment crew with Jan Leike, who additionally left in Could to affix rival AI agency Anthropic.
